Hat

I don't consider myself stylish, but when a friend left her hat in my car after a shoot...well!

To Evolve

This year, I am changing direction in my personal photo work. More shooting with film, finally putting those rangefinders to good use. More moving images, and doing work that makes me feel something. Letting go of some control, yet have more discipline. There will be many contradictions to overcome, what fun it'll be :) I've trained myself as your classic portrait photographer, building a foundation, and can always go back to it. I want to try aesthetics that I can't simply grasp with technical knowledge. Like poetry, it's non-linear and you've only the faintest idea of why you like it, but it's hard to put into words. I want to like what I want to like, simple as that. I leave you with this little gem. Cliche as it sounds, It's things like this that makes my chest palpitate.

Mary

Learn to see with a lover's eyes.

The lover's pulse quickens at the sight.
Of the little dimples in your back. You don't see them.

The lover worships the crinkle by your eyes, the lines that have made its home by your lips.

Formed by your laughter. You must have done it hundreds, of thousands, millions of times to earn them. That delightful laugh! It cracks, it shatters, it melts the shell your heart has grown to protect itself. Your lines, it is the healer, the constant reminder that you are the personification of Joy.

The lover gazes at you, laying across the bed, lost in your thoughts. How the light blankets you.
And you're not even aware, not the slightest.
 At this very moment.
How beautiful you are.

Byul & Zoe

One alley way, four different images.
I love the dark and moody, almost-gothy light.
